“On October 19, 2012, KME was given a Notice of Award of a contract for the delivery of ninety-one 2000 GPM pumpers over the next three years. Forty-eight pumpers will be delivered in the first year, thirty-eight in the second year and five in the third year. Delivery is not expected to start until late 2013.
The first of three 2013 Medical Evacuation Transportation Units has been delivered. It will be followed by the second expected in late 2012 and the third in early 2013. They are built on Thomas Bus chassis by Sartin Services Inc. The primary use of these vehicles will be the evacuation of patients in nursing homes and hospitals in the event of a fire or other emergency. The vehicle can carry twenty-two non-folding stretchers, plus two roll-in stretchers. The new vehicle is equipped with a 3000-pound capacity winch and an electrical generator. The vehicle has a total length of 22 feet 2 inches on a 231 inch wheelbase.”
