Construction Crane Collapses in Midtown

A construction crane has collapsed on 57th Street near 6th Avenue in midtown.
Emergency responders are clearing the streets and nearby buildings are being evacuated.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m.
The New York City Buildings Department suspended construction work at 5 p.m. Saturday in anticipation of the storm.
The luxury condominium building at 157 57th St., called One57, is the tallest residential building in New York City.
It reminded contractors and property owners to secure construction sites and buildings. It also was performing random inspections to make sure equipment was secured.
