School bus carrying children rolls over near Quincy, multiple injuries reported
QUINCY, Wash.– One person was transported by MedStar to a Quincy hospital after a school bus overturned.
It happened around 8: 20 a.m. Monday on Highway 281, just south of Quincy.
Kyle Forman of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said the bus driver veered off the road, overcorrected and rolled off the highway.
The bus belongs to the Quincy School Distict. One driver and 37 children of all ages were on board the bus.
Grant County officials confirmed multiple children suffered injuries. There is no word yet on any specific conditions, but some of them were seriously hurt. Eight to 10 children were transported to the hospital via ambulance, and another child was airlited from the hospital. The driver is okay. According to the Associated Press, other children suffered bloody noses, scrapes and bruises.
Highway 281 is closed. Police ask drivers to avoid the area.
Parents are asked to meet their children at Quincy Valley Hospital for their children.
