Boston MAB Deployed – 56 patients evacuated after water main break at Spaulding
BOSTON —Patients were evacuated from Spaudling Skilled Nursing Center in West Roxbury after a water main break early Friday morning.
The president of Spaulding tells NewsCenter 5 a broken water main outside the facility flooded the basement with a couple of inches of water.
The water had to be shut off forcing the staff to transfer 56 patients to other facilities in the area.
“We’ll be assessing the damage here and determining how quickly it could be repaired and how quickly the facility can be reopened,” Spaulding Rehabilitation Network President David Storto said.
Staff members are going with the patients, and family members are being notified.
Patients are being transferred to Spaulding in the North End, Faulkner Hospital and the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center across the street.
